STATE WILDLIFE COMMISSION MEETING AND RULE MAKING NOTICE

 

The New Mexico State Wildlife Commission (“Commission”) will be hosting a meeting and rule hearing on Friday November 13, 2026 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Red River Convention Center, 101 West River St, Red River, NM 87558.  Please check the Department’s website for any updates at https://wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/commission/meeting-agendas/.  The purpose of this meeting is to hear and consider action as appropriate on the proposed changes to the Manner and Method Rule.

 

Synopsis:

 

Manner and Method Rule

The proposal is to amend the Manner and Method Rule 19.31.10 NMAC to conform with changes made in other NMAC rules or to codify changes that were agreed upon during those rule development processes. The Manner and Method Rule will become effective April 1, 2027. This rule does not expire.  Proposed changes include:

               1)           Changes to license purchase requirements regarding when licenses must be purchased.

               2)           Changes to the definition of “sporting arm types” to reflect changes in denotations in the hunt codes to conform to the new hunt code format.

               3)           Changes to the definition of “protected species” to reflect changes in statutory authority.

               4)           Changes to the definition of “written permission” to reflect changes to private land licenses and ranch registration.

 

A full text of changes for all rules will be available on the Department’s website at: https://wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/.  Interested persons may submit comments on the proposed changes for the Manner and Method Rule to DGF-Manner-and-Method-Rule@dgf.nm.gov.  Individuals may also submit written comments to the physical address below.  Comments are due by 1:00 p.m. on November 11. 2026. The final proposed rules will be voted on by the Commission during a public meeting on November 13, 2026.  Interested persons may also provide data, views or arguments, orally or in writing, at the public rule hearings to be held on November 13, 2026.
