NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

Public Notice. The New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification Board gives notice that it will hold a public hearing at DPS’s Law Enforcement Academy, Auditorium, at 4491 Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507, and via Zoom, on Tuesday through Thursday, October 27, 28, 29, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to AMEND 10.29.1 NMAC, REPEAL 10.29.6 NMAC; and ADOPT NEW RULES 10.28.8 NMAC and 10.28.9 NMAC.

Purpose of the Rule: . These revisions are intended to update, clarify, and improve existing regulatory language to ensure consistency, administrative clarity, and alignment with current operational and statutory requirements

 

Copies of the Rule. Copies of the rule may be viewed on the LEA website at https://www.lea.nm.gov/law-enforcement-certification-board/ and on the NM Sunshine Portal.

 

Statutory Authorization. The statutory authorization for this rulemaking is set forth in NMSA 1978, Sections 29-7-4.3(H).

 

Permanent Rule. The proposed rules will be a permanent rule.

 

Comment on the Rule. Interested persons may comment on the proposed permanent rule either at the hearing, by submitting written statements to Ivan Ramirez-Arechiga at 4491 Cerillos Rd., P.O. Box 1628, 87504-1628, or by email at Ivan.Ramirez-Arechiga@dps.nm.gov. All mailed statements must be received by October 26, 2026. Early submission of written statements is encouraged. Interested persons may also comment in writing at the public hearing.

 

Reasonable Accommodation. Individuals with disabilities who need any form of auxiliary aid to attend or participate in the public hearing, including a reader, amplifier, qualified sign language interpreter, or any form of auxiliary aid or service, are asked to contact Ivan Ramirez-Arechiga by email at Ivan.Ramirez-Arechiga@dps.nm.gov as soon as possible and no later than October 5, 2026. DPS requires at least ten calendar days’ advance notice to provide special accommodation.
